Beginning in Kigali, the journey takes you across the border into Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where an encounter with mountain gorillas in their natural habitat offers one of the most profound wildlife experiences on the continent.
Returning through Kigali, with a visit to the moving Genocide Memorial, the itinerary transitions to Kenya, where Lake Nakuru’s flamingos and rhinos provide a striking introduction before the Masai Mara delivers the grand finale.
Two full days in one of Africa’s greatest game reserves, with the possibility of witnessing the Great Migration in season, ensure the safari ends on an exceptional note.

Detailed Itinerary
Days 1-3 | Bwindi: An Encounter with the Gentle Giants
Day 1: Kigali – Arrival, transfer from to the hotel
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport and passing through the immigration process, you will be met by our driver who will transfer you to the booked accommodation.
Overnight: Park Inn/The Retreat Kigali
Meal Plan: Bed & Breakfast
Day 2: Kigali – Transfer to Bwindi, Travel time +5 hrs
After breakfast, you will checkout of the hotel and immediately proceed to Bwindi. The route is scenic and you will arrive in time for lunch. Afternoon is spent on leisure.
Overnight: Mahogany Springs/Buhoma Lodge/Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp

Day 3: Bwindi – Gorilla Trekking Experience
After early breakfast, be transferred to a briefing from the Uganda wildlife officials at the park’s headquarters. Thereafter, have a guided trek to meet the mountain gorillas and enjoy their lifestyle in their real home. After meeting the gorillas, you can sit around these great apes for a whole hour gazing into their big round eyes. On a gorilla trekking safari, a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as walking shoes, packed food and mineral water, insect repellent, sun screen and hat. The gorilla tracking experience takes half or whole day depending on the movement of these primates. After this gorilla tracking experience in Uganda you will have informative memorable experience in life. Have a relaxed afternoon at your lodge, going through the beautiful photos of the great gorilla encounter.

Days 4-5 | Kigali to Nairobi: History & Regional Flight
Day 4: Bwindi – Transfer to Kigali
After breakfast, drive back to Kigali with lunch en route. If time permits have a brief stop at Kimironko local market for a market tour and some local shopping if you wish too, before drop off at your hotel.

Day 5: Visit Kigali genocide memorial & transfer to the Airport, fly to Nairobi, Kenya
After early breakfast, you will checkout of the hotel and drive to visit the Kigali genocide memorial grounds, which honours’ the memory of the more than one million Rwandans killed in 1994 through education and peace-building. You will be able to watch and listen to some video clips from some of the survivors of the incident. You will have lunch before being transferred to the airport to catch a flight to Nairobi, Kenya for a wild game drive safari.
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Internatioal Airport, you will be met by our driver and be transferred to the hotel.

Day 6 | Lake Nakuru: A Haven for Rhinos and Flamingos
Day 6: Nairobi – Transfer to Lake Nakuru (Approx. 3 hours)
You will be picked by our driver/guide from your Nairobi hotel at 7a.m and immediately depart for Lake Nakuru to arrive by mid-morning. Have a short game drive as you head to the lodge for lunch. Another game drive is at 4p.m. Look out for flamingos, rhinos, buffalos, giraffe and much more.
Overnight: Sarova Lion Hill
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Days 7-10 | Masai Mara: Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Stage
Day 7: Lake Nakuru – Transfer Maasai Mara (Approx. 5 hours)
Have breakfast then depart for Mara to arrive in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive is at 3 or 4p.m. till 6p.m.
Overnight: Zebra Plains/Sarova or Ashnil/Mara Bush Camp or Entim Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 8 & 9: Maasai Mara – Full day
Spend these 2 days with full-day game drives in search of the big five and many other wildlife that inhabits this beautiful savannah plain. There will be picnic lunch during the day.
Optional activities: Hot air balloon & guided nature walks
Overnight: Zebra Plains/Sarova or Ashnil/Mara Bush Camp or Entim Camp

Day 10: Maasai Mara – Transfer to Nairobi (Approx. 5 hours)
Have another early-morning breakfast then return to the camp for breakfast. Thereafter, depart for Nairobi with a stop for lunch en route.
