Begin your safari in Nairobi, the capital city and also the gateway to Kenya’s renowned national parks and reserves. From there, head to Samburu National Reserve, where the rugged terrain hosts unique wildlife species such as Grevy’s zebras and Somali ostriches. Next, experience the awe-inspiring beauty of the Masai Mara, famed for its abundant wildlife, including the Big Five and the annual Great Migration.

Finally, cross the border into Uganda to explore Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where you’ll trek to encounter mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.

Tour Details

Day 1: Nairobi – Arrival: Meet & Greet

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by our representative who will transfer you to Hotel for overnight stay.

Overnight: Giraffe Manor/Hemingways

Meal plan: Full Board/Bed & Breakfast

Day 2: Nairobi – Day tour

Have breakfast at the hotel with the giraffes. Spend this day visit Giraffe Centre & David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage.

Day 3: Nairobi – Transfer to Samburu by flight

You will be driven to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport for a morning flight to Samburu National Reserve. Be met at the airstrip by camp’s guide and be transferred to the camp with a game drive en route. After lunch there will be an afternoon game drive.

Overnight: Sasaab Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 4 & 5: Samburu – Morning and afternoon game drives

These 2 full days you will have morning and afternoon game drives.

Other activities: Walking safaris, Samburu village visit & a visit to Reteti Elephant Orphanage

Overnight: Sasaab

Day 6: Samburu – Transfer to Maasai Mara by flight

After breakfast transfer to the airstrip for scheduled mid-morning flight to Maasai Mara. Be met by camp’s guide and transferred to the camp. There will be a game drive after lunch.

Overnight: Kichwa Tembo Camp

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 7 & 8: Maasai Mara – Morning and afternoon game drives

These 2 full days have morning and afternoon game drives.

Optional activities: Walking safaris, balloon ride, Maasai Village visit and night game drives.

Overnight: Kichwa Tembo Camp

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 9: Maasai Mara – Transfer to Kisumu – Entebbe – Bwindi (All by flight)

Have breakfast then be transferred to the airstrip for a flight to Entebbe departing Mara at 8.45 a.m. to arrive in Kisumu at 9.50 a.m. The flight have short stop in Kisumu for immigration purposes.  Depart Kisumu for Entebbe at 10.30a.m. to arrive in Entebbe at 11.30 a.m. You will connect with a flight to Bwindi departing at 12.45 p.m. Arrive in Kihihi Aistrip at 1.55 p.m. and be picked by lodge’s guide and transfer you to Bwindi, Buhoma section.

The day is spent on leisure or guided community walks.

Overnight: Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp

Day 10: Trekking Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi National Park

Another highlight of your safari: a meeting with the gentle giants of Bwindi! Hikers will love the tracking in the beautiful ecosystem of the park. It is difficult to foresee how many hours you will hike, it may take 3 to 8 hours. Expect to walk a long distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter any gorilla. But it will be worthwhile as you observe them closely while they eat, play and rest. A unique and unforgettable experience!

You will carry packed lunch on this day.

Note: For conservation purposes, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour.

The ranger guide always briefs you on how to behave with these giant apes. After trekking, return to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 11: Bwindi – Relaxation

Relax by the lodge or taking guided walks or visit the local community with a local guide. This day can be used for habituation.

Note: The activities can be done interchangeably depending on availability of gorilla permit.
Overnight: Bwindi Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 12: Bwindi – Transfer to Entebbe, by flight

After breakfast, transfer to Kihihi for your flight back to Entebbe.  Flight departs at 9.45a.m. to arrive at 11.25a.m. Connect with a flight back to Nairobi where you will connect with a home-bound flight.
