How to get to Serengeti

Serengeti National Park is a one-and-a-half-hour flight from Kilimanjaro International Airport. You can also drive eight hours from Arusha.

When to Visit Serengeti National Park

The dry season (June-October) is good. The weather is perfect. You can combine the Serengeti with a beach holiday in Zanzibar.

The rainy seasons are cheaper with fewer visitors. Roads might be slippery.

What to wear in Serengeti

Wear safari shorts or pants made of comfortable, absorbent fabric. Safari shirts are long-sleeved to cover your arms. Safari boots or hiking boots will do. Carry sandals to wear indoors or at the poolside. Wear sunscreen, insect repellant, and a hat.

• Most visitors to the Serengeti are interested in the early morning or evening game drive. See hippos returning to the water after grazing all night or lions from a night on the prowl.
