In Kigali, Rwanda, there is a 5-star hotel called Hotel des Mille Collines. It was constructed in 1973 and is infamous for its part in the genocide in Rwanda in 1994. The hotel served as a shelter for nearly 1,200 people during the genocide, including foreigners and Tutsis.
