Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge
Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge, well positioned at an elevation of 2161 meters (7,087 feet) on Nteko Ridge in southwestern Uganda, offers a stunning view of the renowned Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Situated on the ridge, it overlooks the Kashasha River Valley, with ‘Nkuringo’ hill and the rugged Rift Valley landscape creating a striking backdrop, complemented by the Virunga Mountains’ majestic peaks.
This particular region, known as Nkuringo, is home to four Mountain Gorilla families, making it an ideal starting point for the incredible gorilla trekking activity. The Lodge boasts panoramic vistas that encompass the breathtaking Virunga chain’s volcanic summits, stretching across the escarpment into the Albertine Rift Valley within the DRC Congo.
Originally established as Nkuringo Gorilla Camp in 2007, the lodge has evolved organically into a prestigious establishment, earning the title of ‘Uganda’s leading Safari Lodge’ at the World Travel Awards in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
The Lodge takes pride in its commitment to sustainability, operating as a carbon-neutral establishment. It achieves this through various eco-friendly initiatives such as utilizing solar energy and harvesting rainwater. Additionally, the Lodge actively reduces plastic usage by offering water in reusable jars and encourages guests to bring their water bottles for refills during dining experiences.
