Serengeti National Park Attractions

  • Most visitors to the Serengeti are interested in the early morning or evening game drive. See hippos returning to the water after grazing all night or lions from a night on the prowl.
  • Go on a guided nature walk. Spot insects, reptiles, plants, and birds that you might miss on a game drive.
  • Tour the Serengeti on a Hot Air Balloon. Balloon safaris are perfect for honeymoons and family safaris. At least 12 people can fit in a hot air balloon.
  • An elegant bush dinner under the African sky is an unforgettable experience for a couple.
  • The Serengeti Visitor Center will help you learn everything you need to know about the Serengeti.
  • Don’t miss the annual Wildebeest Migration. 1.6 million Herbivores make a treacherous crossing in search of water and pasture. They dodge hyenas, lions, leopards, wild dogs, the flooding waters of the Mara River, and crocodiles to reach their destination alive. Watch the wildebeest calve down.
  • The Serengeti is in Maasai territory. Visit a Maasai boma and learn about the Maasai people.
  • Wilderness camping in Serengeti is exciting. Hotels provide camping gear, a chef, and armed guards.
  • Bologonja Springs is in a remote corner of the Serengeti. Expect picturesque views, plenty of wild animals, and no crowds.
  • The Lobo Valley is a big cat paradise. Plenty of prey and abundant water draw in lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Witness the great migration.
  • Moru Kopjes are rocky areas all over the Serengeti plains. Many of them look just like Pride Rock in the Lion King. Predators use Kopjes to rest and watch for prey. Some of them have Maasai paintings on them. You will see black rhinos here.
  • The Serengeti is a prime bird-watching location. More than 542 bird species occupy the Serengeti. November, December, January, February, March, and April are the best bird-watching months.
  • Hundreds of hippos wallow at the Retina Hippo Pool. Watch them jostle, take photos, and have a picnic lunch.
