Loisaba Conservancy

Loisaba hosts buffalo, lions, elephants, and leopards. The elephant population here is almost as large as Tsavos. Loisaba is part of an elephant migration route.

There are plans to introduce rhinos to Loisaba.

 

How to get to Loisaba Conservancy

Loisaba Tented Camp is in Laikipia, Kenya. You can fly from Wilson Airport in Nairobi to the Loisaba Airstrip. It is a one-hour flight.

You can also get there by road.

 

When to Visit Loisaba

You want to visit in July, August, September, or October when it is cool and dry. Laikipia experiences dry seasons and rainy seasons.

 

What to wear to Loisaba Conservancy

Temperatures in Laikipia range from 23-29. The climate remains constant year round because of its proximity to the equator.

Carry warm clothing for early game drives and evening excursions.

Wear neutral colors like greens and browns and beiges. Always wear sunscreen and comfortable, quality shoes for outdoors.

  • A Game Drive through Loisaba will take you to the elephant herds, lion prides, packs of wild dogs, zebra herds, and solitary leopards. Qualified guides lead you through the grassland and the path of the river.
  • For a more up-close experience, take a walking safari of Loisaba. Our experienced rangers will share their extensive knowledge of local flora and fauna.
  • Camel riding is an ancient tradition in Northern Kenya. Honor this tradition as you follow herds of zebra, elephant, or giraffe from a higher vantage point.
  • A horse riding safari is a safe and thrilling way to follow herds of grazers. Loisaba horses and wild animals are habituated to each other.
  • Hang out in a Maasai manyatta. Enjoy a Maasai dance and buy some beadwork.
  • If mechanized transport is more your thing, you can explore wild Loisaba on a Mountain bike.
  • Go fishing in Loisaba’s rivers and dams. You can request fishing equipment and a picnic.
  • Rangers at Loisaba enjoy the support of two canine helpers who help fight to poach. Observe their training.
