How to get to Mara North Conservancy
Safarilink, Mombasa Air, Airkenya, and Fly 540 will fly you to the Mara North Conservancy. Always arrive 30 minutes before a scheduled flight.
By road, Narok is a three-hour drive away from Nairobi.
When to Visit Mara North
Visit during the long rains to enjoy the wildebeest migration and the large herds of grazers that throng the Mara ecosystem.
During the drier months of January-June, you can experience the Mara in fair weather. Big cats are easy to find.
Travel Tips within in Mara North
- Observe the distance between yourself and any wild animals. It will keep you safe and keep the animals behaving naturally.
- Never block an animal’s path.
- Keep a safe distance from young animals or their nests. The young ones will be safe. You will not provoke the mothers either.
- Don’t do anything to attract an animal like calling, shouting, or throwing something.
- Keep your voice to a whisper. Shouting, cheering, or clapping may startle the animals.
- While on a game drive, minimize your use of mobile phones.
- When you are on a game drive, do not leave the vehicle.
- Do not stand on the vehicle roof either. Your silhouette can be upsetting to animals.
- Don’t drive into thickets. They provide shelter for animals.
- Driving slow allows visitors to take in the scenery and make detailed observations.
- Keep any litter with you until you get back to the camp.
- Do not feed animals.
- Respect the rules. Don’t ask safari guides to break the Mara North conservancy rules.
- Cooperate with rangers.
What to wear in Mara North Conservancy
Blend in. Wear brown and beige when it is dry. Greens are acceptable as well in rainy seasons. Avoid bright colors. Clothes should provide full coverage – avoid short sleeves or shorts.
Wear quality, comfortable walking shoes. Protect your skin with sunscreen and a good hat.
