Lake Naivasha

Lake Naivasha offers excellent game viewing, mountain climbing, hiking, boating, bird watching, and more.

How to get to Lake Naivasha

Lake Naivasha is a short road trip away from Nairobi. Take a bus from Nairobi to Naivasha and another bus from Naivasha town to the lakeside. Use public transport if you are alone or at a small party. Larger parties can hire a vehicle.

When to Visit Lake Naivasha

Animals are easier to find in the dry season of July-October. They meet near the remaining pasture and water. You can combine Lake Naivasha and Maasai Mara Game Reserve in the dry season.

Vegetation is lush in the rainy season (April and May). Prepare to witness animals give birth to young. Flowers are in bloom.

October to March is good for bird watching.
